Tired of watching the Oscars and the parade of actors and actresses in their borrowed jewelery winning an award because of a successful marketing scheme and thanking everyone but their shoemakers (though that could change this year) in their acceptance speech? I don’t think the Golden Raspberry Awards or Razzies can be much better entertainment. Maybe you will chuckle a little but I did not see any of the movies mentioned, so I have nothing to say about it. People enjoy making fun of other people, so if you enjoy it, go ahead, but I will move on.
How about the Brandchannel’s 2006 Product Placement Awards? Ford won the Brandcameo 2006 Award for Overall Product Placement. Ford has a product placement in over 35 percent of all number one films in the last six years and is working hard to be the film product of the century. Ford’s product placement started in the early 1900s in a movie called Keystone Coupe - and they wooed actors and actresses of the time, such as Mary Pickford, with a Model A Ford. I have to wonder if she had a name change for that purpose (pick-ford). If they can have a Brandcameo 2006 Award for Not Being Placed ( De Beers and Blood Diamond won ), they can have an award for anything at all. With 41 of the number one films in 2006 advertising an average of 21 brands per film. I think I have missed the majority of the product placements, mostly I notice the macs because of their beauty. I think marketers will need to get bolder for Geeky Cat to understand what they are trying to push.
Okay, I guess the point is I don’t know why people enjoy watching the Oscars or why people who are always saying they are busy find time to watch it. I am not impressed with the statue they receive and I have a better idea: there is a interesting and intelligent fish called oscar which is a large species of cichlid. Don’t know much about this majestic fish: they move slowly, they sometimes enjoy being rubbed, and they dance in joy when their meal is served. And they also have something in common with actors/actresses: they enjoy looking in the mirror and find it fascinating source of entertainment. Really.
