Some people think that cats have a sixth sense — and they certainly act that way when they mysteriously stare at some spot on the wall, leading an onlooker to believe that they are seeing spirits. Oscar the cat has honed that sixth sense skill to a point where it is useful to humans — he can sense when a very ill person is just a few hours from leaving this world. The 2-year-old cat has predicted 25 times that a patient at the nursing home where he lives has less than four hours to live. He doesn’t normally seek human companionship as he is a bit of a loner, but he will sit by the dying patient when he senses that the time of death is very near — alerting the staff to contact the patient’s relations so that they can be by the bedside at the end.
