Writing a Letter to Santa
This morning I realized that it is just two weeks to Christmas and I have not written to Santa yet. The list of stuff that I want and need is quite long that I really cannot afford to miss out on Santa’s benevolence. So I went to the Canada Post web site and I entered my name and email address. I then proceeded to write my request. I pointed out to Santa that if he found some item too expensive he could combine it with my birthday gift. But then I thought maybe I’m getting by facts mixed up. Maybe Santa doesn’t do birthday gifts. Okay, we’ll just leave it as a Christmas gift then. I promised Santa that I have been very good this year (and I have) and that I promise to leave him a bunch of cookies. Home made too, if he prefers. I didn’t know what else to say to Santa. I felt bad just writing a list of things that I would like to have. Do people write gift requests for other people in their letters to Santa? Do they keep Santa updated with their life?
With these questions in my mind I started to write my letter:
Dear Santa,
It has been a while since we last spoke….I hope you have been well.
I am happy to tell you that I have been quite good this year. I have been blessed with new friends and a new cellphone with text messaging features would be helpful with keeping in touch with them. I’ll be starting a new job very soon so I could use some new trousers so that I’ll look professional. I use my computer for my job and the monitor is not in good shape so a new desktop would be very welcome.
But enough about me. Both Tammy and Pumpkin need dental care and the vet bills are surreal. But not as surreal as the price of the purse that Lisa doth want! Milene could use a new car for it so unreliable and she has no TTC options in Omamaa land. Miriam could use more energy but please make it all natural. Ivana could use more time — perhaps some sort of exchange with someone who has excess would do. I’m not sure what Laura and Sara want but money is where it is at.
Warmest Wishes,
Geeky Cat
Or if you are not a believer in Santa but you do believe in The Secret, do you believe that by writing out your wish list you will unleash a powerful force that will attract those things into your own life?
I would love to hear you own stories and thoughts about writing to Santa Clause.

Can I borrow “The Secret”?
I feel we need to get out of the gift giving era and just use the holiday as time to spend with those you love and care about. Time is the best gift of all.
I noticed two things…some people hate shopping for others and some people hate what they received.
I like buying gifts any day of the year …. usually the perfect product for a certain someone jumps out at me and that is when I buy my gift…….the time of giving should be all year long and not just one day….
I remember the day I knew there was no Santa….I walked into the cantina and saw the gifts that were to be given to us the next day….that was the sadest Christmas for me.
My favourite Christmas was 40 years ago this December 24th.
I loved that metal Chinese checkers game and a story book that had one short story for every day of the year.
One Christmas I used my Knitting Jenny to make everyone scarves, What a fine product. A gift that gives and gives and gives.

Oh, I’ve had it with the fat man in the red suit. I beg and plead and write and be good…all to no avail. NO AVAIL! I NEVER get anything I ask him for. And I’ve been at it a long time. He left me no alternative but to take affirmative action. How much can one boy take after all? So I found a gypsy online and, with the aid of a major credit card, was able to put a hex and a curse on Santa that will take effect if he does not give me what I ask for. I think the only way to deal with him is to make him aware there will be dire consequences if he chooses to ignore you

Give and ye shall receive burt oh.
It is better to receive than give….or is it the other way around???
Didn’t you hear that Santa gave $100,000 worth of toys away BEFORE Christmas?
Buy yourself what you want or need Bert Oh….have no expectations from others.
Personally, I think gift giving and receiving should be placed with giving of oneself and only helping those really in need. The rest of us should treat ourselves whenever we can.
I firmly believe less is more.
Material things does not make one happy.
We come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing.
Simplicity is the key to happiness. I know.
Wake up Bertoh…..Santa is not bringing you what you are asking for….maybe our own lady Di will????

Miriam,
I don’t have The Secret but you can get the book at the library or rent the video. The idea in a nutshell is about the “Law of Attraction” — the principle that people’s feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into their lives. They interview people who say that they made a fortune after learning the law of attraction and started using it. But if you actually watch the movie you will notice that the people actually had to do something to make their fortune…it did not just come to them because they were thinking about it. Of course what you think will strongly influence your life and what flows into it but it requires effort as well.
I don’t care for the gift giving tradition of Christmas and I really don’t like the obligation to go and buy gifts. I prefer to buy gifts when I see the perfect gift for a person and to give it to them when I wish to. I think most people who are close to me know this about me. I do not expect or even desire Christmas gifts and I’m not running around looking for Christmas presents to give. Getting together and enjoying each other’s company is what Christmas is all about. And if there is good, food all the better!
I don’t think anyone really did a convincing job in persuading me that there was a real Santa Claus. I mean I saw the presents piled up in my mother’s closet with the little gift tags saying “From Santa” in mother’s European scrawl. The day I saw an entry and photo for Santa Claus in the encyclopedia was the biggest shock for me in my later childhood years. I remember running around telling everyone that Santa really did exist and I had proof!

Hey Bert,
What did you request from Santa this year? Miriam is right, we do have a Lady Di who does grant the occasional wish to the deserving. Lady Di heard from several sources that you have been naughty this year…she may have to check out those stories first. Be prepared to have witnesses and alibis dear Bert.
And always, always, always be kind to Santa Claus.

Dear Diana,
At 38 I have had enough Hot Christmas Dinners here in the Tropics of Northern Australia (Cairns, Queensland) I have asked Santa on many occasions for an airline ticket to a colder climate and he ignores my request. If I get heat stroke one more time while doing my morning run the man is going to really see who’s naughty ..not nice.
Love your site..it is a favorite at my work
warmest regards, Emily

Dear Emily,
It is funny how so many people in Canada are not happy with the cold weather and the snow on the ground (and it is not even winter yet). Many are planning trips down south to the Caribbean while the rest of us who can’t afford to do so make every effort to stay indoors and keep warm. Yet you would like it to be colder. You did not mention how cold you would like it to be and I don’t know if you had a specific destination in mind but I am including you in my Christmas wishes…may Santa finally give your ticket to a place of your dreams.
Personally I am quite comfortable in 30 to 40 degree Celsius temperatures, but then I don’t run, I walk.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season,
Diana

Dear Diana,
How about as cold as it needs to be to snow. Merry Christmas from a hot and humid fan Downunder, Emily
