Lights Out.
Did you turn out the lights for the first ever global Earth Hour?
I was happy to note that I can see just fine with the lights turned off, but maybe I shouldn’t be too happy about it because it means that the city lights are pretty bright and the city is using a lot of power to keep the streets well lit. But I’m glad to hear Toronto has exceeded its goals for power savings.
I’m hoping that this will encourage people to reduce their power consumption because we all need to make changes in our lifestyles — everyone makes an impact on the environment and everyone has the power to reduce their impact. It was duly noted that people that go to bed early use less power than those that go to bed late. Well, every little bit helps

I MOST CERTAINLY DO MY PART…IN ALL ASPECTS OF CONSERVATION BUT IT ANGERS ME AT ALL THOSE WHO DON’T SEEM TO CARE OR ARE JUST TOO LAZY…..

Well it certainly seems like there are a lot of lazy people. Something like turning off the water while brushing your teeth seems like a very simple and easy thing to do but they won’t do it. One person said they don’t because they’ve paid for the water so they want to use it (as in paying a flat amount for their water per month rather than on a pay per use system).

Doesn’t make sense to me either. Well the way I think of it is that if the amount of water used monthly stays the same or increases then eventually the water bill WILL increase anyway. STOP WASTING WATER!!!!!Pretty selfish thought. THINK ABOUT WHAT WASTING DOES TO THE FUTURE water supply!!!!
This brings to mind those people who go to all-you-can-eat buffets….eat as much as possible….waste food…go beyond normal. I, too believe that one must pay for what isn’t eaten but thrown out. We all pay extra in the long-run.
