Mother’s & Eat What You Want Day

Filed under: Purrr, Culture — Diana Condolo @ 9:19 am

Today is Mother’s day: A special day set aside to give your mother extra thanks for all she does for you and to show respect and honour for all motherhood (including being a loving mother towards pets). Today is also Eat What You Want Day. Don’t feel bad if you didn’t know about this…this is the first time I have heard of this. I think it is great that the two occur on the same date this year…because that means that children can and should give their mothers all the best foods in the world and mothers can induldge in the delectables with absolute abandon. For me, today’s pièce de résistance (or non resistance) is chocolate with peperoncino. Oh it is sooooo good. This is chocolate that must be eaten very slowly…just let it rest on the tongue and let the warmth of your mouth slowly melt the chocolate until it totally coats the tongue with its silky smoothness and you can fell the peperoncino infusing your mouth and throat with heat.

The chocolate I’m eating is Aiello Ciocolady.

Have a great one!

    :D,

Knowing how you are interested in trying out new recipes , perhaps you might like to try this one for Chocolate and Chili Soup seeing how you like the chocolate with peperoncino.

I remembered seeing this once on that Take Home Chef show. The recipe for it is available on-line and is reproduced here for convenience:

    Chocolate and Chili Soup

    Ingredients:
    10 oz heavy cream
    5 oz milk
    2 dried chilies (chopped)
    2 tablespoons chocolate flakes
    2 tablespoons of baby marshmallows
    2 tablespoons of croissant croutons

    Method:

In a medium size pan place the cream, milk and dried chili, bring to a gentle simmer and strain.

Add the cream to the chocolate and stir until the chocolate has melted.

Pour the soup into 4 bowls.

Garnish with croutons, baby marshmallows and chocolate flakes.

Sounds like a delectable soup. It will certainly make me forget the fact that I won’t be having dessert at dinner.

I was in Ireland for Mother’s Day…now that itself is a FINE gift but it wasn’t given by my son….ANYWAY…my son and his dad came up to visit me…way up north….to a Thai restaurant which I have often driven by but never gone in. Mr. Ling’s was one fine dine!!!!!yes, and a bit of wine.
